How Art Created Impact at the NJCTS Annual Gala
"Summary: A deeper look into my contribution of original watercolor artworks to the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome (NJCTS) Annual Gala, and how art can become a force for empathy, empowerment, and community connection"

The Power of Art in Community: A Night with NJCTS
On October 16th, I had the profound honor of contributing to and attending the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders (NJCTS) Annual Gala at the Marriott Bridgewater. The evening beautifully captured the spirit of giving — where creativity met compassion and art found its deeper purpose.
The event, thoughtfully organized by Hilary Korchowi and the NJCTS team, brought together families, advocates, and supporters who are committed to changing lives through awareness, research, and education. It was a night that reminded me why I believe so deeply in using art to give back — because art can move hearts, inspire generosity, and create tangible impact.

Donating My Work: “Goldilocks,” “Solitude,” and “Golden Leaves”
For this year’s silent auction, I donated three pieces: two original watercolor paintings titled “Goldilocks” and “Solitude,” along with a limited edition print of “Golden Leaves.”
Watching these paintings spark meaningful conversations and seeing bidders connect with the art in such an emotional way was a truly fulfilling experience. All three pieces were met with enthusiastic participation and found loving new homes — with 100% of the proceeds donated directly to NJCTS.
Each brushstroke in those paintings carries a story of serenity and reflection, and knowing that they now also carry a story of support and empowerment makes the experience even more special.
Inspired by the Champions
The highlight of the evening was hearing from the NJCTS Champions — young individuals who have turned their challenges into strengths. Their stories of courage, confidence, and leadership deeply moved me. It was inspiring to see how this organization provides not only medical and emotional support but also builds a network of empathy and mentorship that empowers the next generation.
These young champions are proof that with the right guidance and community, every individual can turn adversity into inspiration.
Reflecting on the Greater Purpose
As an artist, the greatest fulfillment doesn’t come from creating alone, but from seeing art make a difference — in emotion, in connection, and in contribution. Events like this remind me that art can extend far beyond the canvas; it can touch lives, raise awareness, and inspire others to join in.
I am truly grateful to NJCTS for giving me the opportunity to contribute and to everyone who participated and supported the cause.
My hope is that more artists find ways to connect their creative gifts with causes close to their hearts. Together, we can continue to prove that art can heal, uplift, and inspire change.
