In Frosted Pines I wanted to show that hush — snow settling on evergreen branches, the soft weight of cold air. I painted with delicate watercolor washes, using wet-on-wet passages and careful negative painting to let subtle textures emerge. The cool blues and soft greys let the paper breathe while more defined brushwork shapes the pines and foreground grasses. The process felt like a meditation; I poured hours into each transparent layer, balancing suggestion and detail so the scene feels both seen and remembered.
